Tim Macrow had it all to do at the final round of the 2007 Australian Formula Three Championship at Oran Park. And he did it, coming from behind to snatch victory from title rival Leanne Tander in the final race of the year.
Macrow trailed Tander heading into the final race and needed to win to be certain of championship victory. But starting from fourth on the grid meant that the Scud racer would have his work cut out for him.
Under immense pressure from Tander, Macrow held his nerve to cruise to a comfortable victory over Tander to secure his – and Scud Racing’s – first championship class victory.
“That was my best race ever,” and emotional Macrow enthused after the race. “I simply can’t believe it. I didn’t qualify well for race two and started fourth so to win the race and get the championship from there is amazing.”
In National Class, Scud racer Lauren Gray claimed second in the championship behind Chris Barry.
