Scud Racing is a professional team competing in the Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 Championship for the CAMS Gold Star – the most prestigious Open Wheel racing series in Australia.

Scud has a history of success – multiple race and championship wins in both F3 and F2 competition over the years all contributing to the success the team has enjoyed at the very top of the championship – culminating in an effort to support Tim Macrow all the way to the 2007 series championship in the series’ closest ever race.

In 2008 the team takes a further step forward, purchasing an ex Manor Motorsport Dallara F307 in a quest to once again win the Gold Star.

The Cars: #35 Dallara F307 Mercedes - Benz

Scud Racing’s Championship-class Dallara comes from Manor Motorsport, one of the most successful teams in European F3 in recent times.

Powered by the powerful Mercedes Benz engine, this car is the next generation for Scud Racing to continue our championship chances.
The Cars: #25 Dallara F301 – Spiess Opel

Dubbed the ‘Worlds fastest 301’, this is the car used to great effect by Tim Macrow in his burgeoning seasons within Formula 3 – consistently knocking off the supposedly faster 2004-specification cars. Finishing second and third in the championship, the car finished on the outright podium more than ten times and scored several pole positions.

Now the car serves as Scud Racings’ hope within the F3 National Class – and it’s just as competitive as ever - as witnessed by it's 3rd-placed qualifying result with Tim Macrow behind the wheel at Phillip Island in June, 2008.

The Team Members:

Bill Maddocks: Team Owner

Bill Maddocks, himself an extremely successful driver himself, recently stepped out of the hotseat to build and develope Scud into a professional outfit that can regaularly compete for the outright championship - and proved that was entirely capable in 2008 thanks to the title won by Scud driver Tim Macrow.

Bill has a philosophy of fostering young driving talent and offering them an environment within the team that allows them to develop every facet of their racing career.

With significant investment into cars, people and facilities, Bill has placed Scud Racing into the league of top professional teams and will continue to grow and develop the team in his role as Team Owner.

Bill's racing highlights include winning the F3 Trophy Class title in 2005, beating a host of competitive drivers including a 16 year old driver several times his junior!

As well as his fleet of F3 cars, Maddocks also owns an historic Richards 201B Formula 2 car from the early 1980s.

Barry Jones: Chief Engineer

'Baz' heads up Scud Racing's engineering department and oversees all setup, engineering and data requirements over the course of a race weekend.

Barry has experience in V8 Supercar and Carrera Cup competition with Greg Murphy Racing and has a vast, deep experience and wealth of knowledge that he brings to help bring Scud to the front.

Terry Stott: Vehicle Preparation and No. 1 Mechanic

Only in his early 20s, Terry takes on the responsibility of Scud Racing's lead mechanic - including overseeing the preparation of the teams fleet of cars between and during each round of the championship.

Terry joined Scud in early 2008 after amassing significant race experience with fellow Melbourne-based outfit Astuti Motorsport.

Garry Sturdy: No. 1 Mechanic

Garry has been involved with F3 for many years and was the engineer and No. 1 mechanic on the Cooltemp Racing car driven in 2002 by Will Power - finishing second in the championship despite missing the first two rounds.

After then working on the Cooltemp car driven by Bevan Carrick, Garry came into the fold in 2006 when the Cooltemp Racing - Scud Racing - Tim Macrow Racing partnership was formed.

The results were immediate, winning three of the final four races of 2006 and the memorable 2007 championship title in the very final race of the year.

Sturdy is now in charge of the lead Scud Racing Dallara F307 driven by Stuart Kostera.

In his spare time, Garry is an accomplished Remote Control Racer and has many titles to his name.. whilst also fostering his young son's driving career too!
